The 2013 edition of HOTBED Miami presents highly site-specific performative installations of respect and appreciation by New World School of the Arts alumni & BFA seniors, hosted by CasaLin.
In response to the exceptionally personal and unambiguously welcoming art space of The Yard at CasaLin, Wet Heat Project proposed for this year's HOTBED exhibition a theme of "Reverence" to New World's Dean of Visual Arts Maggy Cuesta and CasaLin's founder Lin Lougheed.
We asked our young HOTBED artists to explore aspects of their character or practice that spring from deep feelings of genuine reverence, and find bridging elements among themselves with which to collaborate in three teams.
The resulting ephemeral exhibition was an intimate, engaging, spirited contrast to the art market tumult awaiting visitors after their experience at the oasis of CasaLin.
