HOTBED Miami 2010

[ return to HOTBED home page ]

Miami is a hotbed of transformative
and exceptional art, 365 days a year.

Wet Heat Project's HOTBED encourages and models within Miami's diversity of art students a strong and clear focus on making ideas work, making work accomplished, and engaging the viewer through purely ephemeral creations.

In the prominent HOTBED 2010 booth at Fountain Miami— America's burgeoning avant garde fair— four graduating visual arts BFA students from Miami's New World School of the Arts each presented an original, site-specific performative installation; the booth was totally transformed by a new work every day of the fair.

The HOTBED Challenge...
In the span of six weeks, each student must conceive, plan and produce a one-day only visitor-engaging work, designed to react with the physical, cultural and social dynamic of a highly-visible art venue.

The Intention...
We demonstrate the HOTBED effect by providing a specific platform for innovative, spirited voices in a next generation of artists from among students of Miami art schools and university curriculum.
